A Luxury North West London Family Home

We carried out a full refurbishment and FF&E specification for this stunning North West London property, located in the leafy neighbourhood of St John’s Wood. The semi-detached white stucco home has a charming and classic exterior and internally, comprises over 400-square metres of living space. The traditional-style architectural details of the property included large windows which allowed for plenty of natural light into the living spaces.

What an FF&E Specification Entails

A refurbishment and FF&E specification typically refers to the process of renovating and updating the interior of a space, including its furnishings, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). The process we carried out involved several steps: design planning, budgeting, construction to prepare the space for new installations, procurement, and installation, right down to the finishing touches such as selecting and placing artwork.

Designing an Inviting Home

The owner of this exceptional property came to us with a specific brief: he wanted us to create a inviting home that possessed an understated elegance. Designing for home is all about creating a space that is not only functional and practical, but also comfortable, welcoming, and conducive to spending quality time with family and friends.

Creating Multiple Areas Within One Space

Proving that one room doesn’t have to offer just one experience, we subtly segmented the living area with different seating arrangements. A large seating area by the terrace doors provides the perfect snuggly setting for watching movies or curling up with a book. The TV is mounted on a bespoke hand finished wall by Decorative Atelier, Benjamin Raymond.
On the other side of the double fronted living room we defined a space for conversation to flow with the Moooi chandelier above bringing form and pattern into the space.

Creating an Inviting Entryway

The entryway is the first thing that guests see when they enter your home; it creates a first impression of your personality and tastes and can easily set an immediate tone. To make this entry hallway as inviting as possible, we softened the staircase with a plush mushroom-coloured runner Stark which popped against the black wooden stairs. A pair of large mirrors along the hallway create a sense of depth to make the space appear bigger.

How To Perfect a Neutral Colour Palette

It’s a misconception that neutral colour palettes are boring; we see them as an opportunity to explore texture and layering. Throughout this stunning home, a combination of neutral colours create the base which we then built on with luxurious fabrics and coloured or patterned accents.

Luxurious Hotel-Like Bedrooms

The principal bedroom in this elegant home is a sumptuous private space for our owner to retreat to. The walls were treated with specialist plaster finish and instantly gave a distinctive and warm look to the room. An upholstered paneled headboard adds depth and interest to the design scheme. To either side, delicate and almost dreamlike naked bulb hanging pendants by Tala illuminate the space and a pair of nightstands carry through the vertical lines of the headboard.

Designing a Home To Suit Your Interests

Our owner wanted to carve out a dedicated space in the home to prioritise health and wellbeing, so we created a fully equipped home gym, complete with floor-to-ceiling mirrored walls. With a work hard play hard ethos, we also designed a cinema room with a dynamic and moody ambient lighting scheme, a raised velvet sofa for a real cinema feel, and an array of patterned and velvet cushions for extra cosiness. The client also likes to play poker, so we designed the ultimate poker room, complete with a cushioned edge oval poker table.
