Light-Filled Victorian Property

This luxury living room boasts a big window, allowing natural light to illuminate the space. A light burgundy love couch with matching cushions and a dark blue throw exudes comfort and style. In another corner, a dark blue armchair with a grey throw provides additional seating. The dark wood floor adds warmth and elegance to the room. A rug adorned with bugs and flowers becomes a centerpiece, featuring a brown textured ottoman with books. A grey sofa with dark blue cushions complements the layout. Across the room, a beautiful fireplace with a mantel, adorned with a plant, creates a cosy focal point. A mirror hangs above the fireplace, reflecting the room's beauty. Wooden corner tables on either side of the fireplace display lamps, framed pictures, and plants, with art gracefully hung above them.

A Victorian Period Property with Dramatic Dimensions

We were enlisted to design the interiors for a young professional couple and their family living in this traditional semi-detached period property in Highbury Crescent. The beautiful Victorian villa, with its grand proportions and large windows, overlooks North London’s Highbury Fields. We were keen to combine the heritage values of the home with elements of modern design to deliver interiors that felt charming yet contemporary and were suited to a young city-dwelling family.

Exteriors, Spacious Rooms and Tall Ceilings

The vast living area boasts tall ceilings and windows synonymous with classic properties from this architectural era, allowing an abundance of light to illuminate the space. We placed modern impressionist-style works of art on either side of the original period fireplace and lifted the warm, deep wooden tones of the floor with a silk rug from Stark Rugs, featuring a playful pattern of insects and fauna which connected with the garden outside. The dramatic scale of the windows with functioning box window shutters were balanced with oversized statement-making furniture. A traditional bucket armchair in royal blue wool by Ralph Lauren with a matching oversized sofa in grey wool and a dusty pink loveseat from Mooi provide relaxed and inviting seating.

Welcome to the cosy luxury living room, where comfort and relaxation meet style. A Moooi Love Sofa in light burgundy invites you in, adorned with three matching cushions. A blue patterned throw drapes over one of its arms, adding a touch of coziness. Positioned in front of a window, the armchair offers a serene spot to enjoy natural light. The walls are painted in a soothing clay green, creating a calming atmosphere. A rug in the same color as the walls enhances the overall aesthetic. An old varnished wooden chest serves as a corner table, showcasing framed pictures and a lamp. A small circular green mirror hangs on the wall, reflecting light and adding a decorative touch. A fern plant on the floor adds a touch of nature to the space. Art graces the walls, adding character and visual interest. This luxury living room is a sanctuary of comfort and style, where you can unwind and enjoy a serene ambiance. A coffee table arrangement with books, tray and glass bowl with moss.

Classic Contemporary Interiors with Personality

The galley style kitchen with built-in, everyday, informal seating was well-suited for family living. Continuing with the theme of incorporating antiques, we selected splashbacks made from antique mirrors which reflected the garden as well as all of the natural light which fills the kitchen. A more formal dining area was defined within the main living area. Lightweight Orion pendant lights from Baroncelli made from opaque glass spheres with brass metal accents sit above the dining table. A bespoke art piece on the wall in the dining area provides a boost of colour.

An Eclectic Combination of Vintage, Antique and Modern Furniture

Adopting a mismatched, collector’s style aesthetic, we combined eclectic, collected pieces of furniture throughout the home. In the living area, a bespoke chest of drawers from Fiona McDonald works alongside a custom asymmetric Phoenix mirror by British designer Tom Faulkner which sits above the fireplace. In the entrance, we installed a dramatic full-height feature mirror in bronze. The scale of the mirror – reaching from the floor to the ceiling – really accentuated the grand proportions of the home.

An exquisite bedroom. Beautiful teal walls ad a wooden floor which is complemented by a white simply patterned rug, creating a cosy stage for the large and luxurious bed, which is adorned with fresh white bedsheets, accompanied by grey and purple accent cushions and a natural coloured. Opposite the bed, an old marble fireplace stands tall, adorned with a green plant, picture frames, and books on the mantelpiece. A large circular mirror hangs above, reflecting the natural light. On one side, a captivating framed painting of a colourful bookcase . In the corner, a red/burgundy love sofa with matching cushions provides a cosy seating area, accompanied by a small grey side table adorned with books and a gold floor lamp. A Sophisticated Bedroom with Understated Decorative Elements

For the walls in the principle bedroom we opted for Hague Blue by Farrow & Ball. Pops of red from the art on the walls contrast nicely with the blue tones and are bounced around the room through the reflections in a vintage Convex mirror and a full-length mirror in between the windows. The bedroom also boasted period features, including a fireplace, beautiful cornicing and window boxes with working shutters. The bedroom was spacious, so we made the most of this by adding a vintage loveseat for cosy, window side reading and a desk area.

Oversized Built-In Storage and a Concealed En-Suite Bathroom

The main feature piece in the room is the custom Poliform wardrobe which is oversized in order to make the most of storage space. Painted in the same blue hue as the walls, the storage is vast yet inconspicuous. The door to the far-right cleverly conceals the en-suite bathroom.

Spacious Bathroom with Custom Double Vanity Unit

The principal bedroom’s en-suite bathroom is dramatically clad in bookmatched marble. A custom bathroom double vanity with a stone top incorporates a laundry drawer.

Bookmatched Marble Bathroom with Matte Black Fixtures

To contrast the soft grey of the bookmatched marble, our interior design studio opted for striking and modern matte black fixtures for the double vanity and within the luxury shower.

In one corner, a dividing wall conceals the toilet, offering privacy and functionality. On the opposite side of the wall, a white marble shower adorned with sleek black hardware and a glass screen. Positioned across from the shower, a his and hers sink with a white marble countertop with a stylish blue painted base, adorned with black taps and tasteful bathroom accessories. In the corner of the luxurious bathroom, an exquisite marble shower with a glass screen steals the spotlight. Adorned with grayscale marble tiles on the floor, arranged in a captivating zigzag pattern, the shower exudes elegance. Black hardware adds a touch of sophistication. A built-in shelf, adorned with a carefully placed light fixture, showcases an array of stylish bathroom accessories.

Eccentric Home Interiors for a Memorable Guest Bedroom

The guest bedroom was very different to the rest of the house. We wanted to create an eccentric atmosphere and a memorable experience for our client’s house guests, so we opted for fun pops of blue repeated throughout, a French-style rattan bed and dramatic textured wallpaper designed by Mooi for Arte International Wallpaper. We also kept the guest bathroom playful, modern and young, with pink hues and contrasting matt black fixtures.

Within the ensuite bathroom, the characterful WC continued the book-theme communicated in the bedroom’s wall art with a bookshelf which provided both fun and function.
